Lani Kai Beach

Lani Kai is a beach in Oahu, Hawaii. It is a beautiful beach to visit. There aren’t any waves so it’s so peaceful and fun! When I went I saw many people paddle boarding and kayaking in the clear blue water. You can paddle board to the two rocks in the middle of the ocean and you can actually go explore!  It is great place to take your family and friends while on vacation! Bring lots of sunscreen because you won’t want to leave. Trust me Lani Kai is one of the most beautiful sites you will ever see!

I’ve been to many beaches, however, Mallorca, Spain provides some of the most beautiful ones that I have been to. The water is an amazing shade of deep green and blue while also being extremely clear. During the summer, the water temperatures average from about 75-82 degrees which is a nice change to what we are used to here in Southern California. A lot of the beaches not only have beautiful surroundings, but also have amazing snorkeling.  If you are looking for something more than just touristy packed beaches, Mallorca is a great place to go because there are many beautiful, yet secluded beaches giving you a more enjoyable day.

I never really realized how privileged we are.We live in a world where we don’t think twice about going out to buy a burger or to spend money on new clothes. We really have everything we could possibly need. Before going on a trip that changed my perspective, I truly never realized how lucky I am to live in this time and in this place.
These were my thoughts until I went to Haiti. In my planning for the trip, I knew that I was going to a third world country and that it would be much different than what I was accustomed to, however, there was so much more poverty than I was expected. For instance, their houses don’t even have doors. a IMG_1450.JPGtypical home would be a one room, cement building with drapes covering the entrance as their door. However, even amongst this immense poverty, the people of Haiti lead such joyful lives. They are thankful for every small thing they might receive and along with this thankfulness, they are generous. Although they might not have much, they know their neighbors and friends are in the same position. So, they share each and every thing with one other. This created such a large sense of community that was so cool to be able to witness.

IMG_1482.JPGAfter I came home, I felt like I was living in such a weird haze. I almost felt guilty to come home to the same abundance that I had left with, now knowing what other people in the world live with. It made me sad to see how wasteful we could be when the people of Haiti would give anything to live the life we live. I wanted to be able to give them anything I could, because out of all people, the Haitians and their thankful hearts deserve to have anything they need.

I can’t change my circumstances, and I can’t change their’s either, however, I can continue to give support to those people and hopefully go back one day. I can also lead a more thankful life. Doing this has helped me to be more joyful in my everyday life.

California Dreaming

Yosemite National Park

I never realized how lucky we are to live in California. We have everything we could ask for. We have amazing  beaches, mountains, forests, and great weather. We live five minutes away from the beach, two hours from the mountains, and six hours away from national parks like Yosemite.

I didn’t realize this until I was sitting at the beach, laying out in the middle of december, still getting sunburnt. I can can go tan in december. I can go on a road trip down yosemite and camp and enjoy nature.I can go to Big Bear Mountain and play in the snow. I can do anything really, anytime I want!

Then I realized I am the luckiest girl in the world. I can surf and play beach volleyball whenever I want. I have the best friends anyone could ask for. I can visit the beautiful beaches like Huntington, Seal Beach, Thousand Steps, Crystal Cove, and San Diego.

So now I try to not take things for granted. I live life to the fullest and do the things I dream of doing. For example traveling, bridge jumping, and sky diving. I am thankful for everything I have. And try to do new things that will push me and make me a better person.
