Glow Stick Adventures

The other night, my friends and I went down to Huntington Harbour with about 5 packs of glow sticks and a camera. Not only did we have a great time, but the pictures turned out amazing. We sat on the beach and as soon as the sun set, we broke out the glow sticks and started the fun. We discovered that the vibrant lights of the glow sticks and any slight movement would put a really cool blur to the picture. With that, we would have one person constantly taking pictures as we danced and jumped around with each other. The results were so fun! If you are looking for a fun night at the beach with a good group of friends, I highly recommend you give this a try!

Catalina

The few times that I’ve been to Catalina have been unforgettable. There are so many activities to do to fill a adventure seeker’s cravings. For starters, the snorkeling is incredible. There are so many different types of fish creating a rainbow view below the surface. Many times you will even be able to see sharks! There are also some incredible hikes to experience. One morning, I got up with some friends and did a sunrise hike on one of the highest points in Catalina. It is worth every minute earlier that you woke up to see the sun rising over the beautiful ocean. Its the most perfect destination for either a quick day trip or an overnight escape.

Lani Kai Beach

Lani Kai is a beach in Oahu, Hawaii. It is a beautiful beach to visit. There aren’t any waves so it’s so peaceful and fun! When I went I saw many people paddle boarding and kayaking in the clear blue water. You can paddle board to the two rocks in the middle of the ocean and you can actually go explore!  It is great place to take your family and friends while on vacation! Bring lots of sunscreen because you won’t want to leave. Trust me Lani Kai is one of the most beautiful sites you will ever see!

Mallorca

I’ve been to many beaches, however, Mallorca, Spain provides some of the most beautiful ones that I have been to. The water is an amazing shade of deep green and blue while also being extremely clear. During the summer, the water temperatures average from about 75-82 degrees which is a nice change to what we are used to here in Southern California. A lot of the beaches not only have beautiful surroundings, but also have amazing snorkeling.  If you are looking for something more than just touristy packed beaches, Mallorca is a great place to go because there are many beautiful, yet secluded beaches giving you a more enjoyable day.

Ko’Olina

If you find yourself traveling to the island of Oahu, Ko’Olina bay is the perfect place to take kids or snorkelers. As there are no waves, it is more of a place to relax and play with younger kids in the water. However, in one of the bays, there are tons of sea turtles! It is so much fun to swim with the turtles and experience life under the sea. Along with the sea turtles there are many different types of colorful fish. When we went, there was even a protected monk seal lounging up on the tide pools. It is definitely a cool place to check out and I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Pipeline

This week over break I went to Oahu, Hawaii. We spent a few amazing days on the North Shore where we got to go to beaches like Pipeline and watch the surfers on the powerful waves. The water was a nice 80 degrees, so many of the surfers didn’t need to wear wetsuits. Being that it was Pipeline, they were all very good and caught some impressive rides. There were lots of people that came to watch the surfers do their thing. Living in Hawaii would be a dream, and to be able to experience the environment everyday must be incredible. If you are every in Oahu, definitely visit the North Shore and the beaches along the coast such as Pipeline, Waimea Bay, and Sharks Cove.

Balboa Island

As we know this isn’t a typical beach, it is a great place to go to be by the water but also enjoy other things too. You can go down to main street and get delicious treats like the Balboa Bar, have good shopping, or you can just walk along the water. It is also a great place to take paddle boards or kayaks out since there are no waves. It is a beautiful place to bring your dog on a walk or go out with friends. During Christmas time, it is a super fun place to go and look at pretty lights and drink hot chocolate, however, it gets crowded quickly. Another fun thing to watch during Christmas is the boat parade. Residents of Balboa or anyone who owns a boat can decorate it and take it through the harbor. Finally, you can take the Balboa Ferry over to the fun zone where you can play arcade games, go on the ferris wheel, or get food. It is a great place to go with family and enjoy the day!

Thousand Steps

Thousand Steps has so many different things that you can enjoy. It is located in the beautiful Laguna Beach. Although the name implies that there are 1000 steps, you only have to go down about 230 stairs to get there. There are caves, secret pools, great waves, rocks to climb, and adventures to go on. The caves and secret pools are only accessible at certain times. When the tide is high, no one is allowed to attempt to climb the rocks to get over to them. However, if the tides are low, it is a beautiful place to explore. Most of the time there is a great shore break that allows for body surfers to get some great pictures. Also, if you want to explore down the beach, you can climb on and through some rocks to get to other little beaches in Laguna. It is a lot of fun to spend the day in Laguna going from beach to beach on the trolley and spending the day at Thousand Steps.
